TWO of the Shoalhaven’s finest young cricketers will get a chance to prove their cricketing might this week in front of a home crowd – and hopefully get a few wickets.
Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens Cricket Club’s Nate Jones and Nowra Cricket Club’s Adam Ison will play for Southern Zone in the Bradman Cup, a prestigious cricket carnival featuring eight teams from Country NSW.
Hundreds of players, support staff and family will flood to the Shoalhaven this week for the cup, at which a number of Australian test players have been spotted as future stars.
The right arm off-spin bowler and left-handed top-order batsman, Ison, and the right arm pace bowler, Jones, were selected on the 14-man squad from the eight under 16s representative sides in the Southern Zone.
The four-day cup starts today and will be staged at grounds all over the Shoalhaven, with the final to be played on Thursday.
Southern Zone will play its first game today against Riverina at Hayden Drexel Oval from 10am.
