Watch property on the sand

SHOALHAVEN police have warned people attending beaches not to leave valuable items unattended while swimming.

The warning follows a series of thefts at beaches in the Shoalhaven.

Shoalhaven crime manager inspector Mark Robinson said thefts from beaches were common at this time of year, but could be prevented.

“People should never leave anything of value on the beach, while swimming, running or doing anything out of sight of their belongings,” he said.

“Thieves watch out for unattended belongings and often steal items like mobile phones, cash, wallets, keys, passports and cameras,” Inspector Robinson said.

Anyone who is the victim of a beach stealing should immediately contact Shoalhaven Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
