Over 100 crews from 35 surf life saving clubs representing NSW in surf rowing will battle it out on Mollymook Beach.
Divisions of surfboat racing being
contested include reserves, under 23 male, under 23 female, open male, open female and under 18.
The morning session will kick off from 7.30am with the under 23 females.
The navy series is typically fast and furious.
Teams battle it out over a race distance of 800 metres out through the surf and back to the beach.
This will mean intense racing with extremely tight finishes.
With good size surf predicted this weekend and sunny weather, thrills and spills are expected.
Great viewing will be available from the beach so spectators are welcome.
Crews will row elimination block racing, with the top six crews to race off in the final in each division.
The 2012-13 NAVY Australian Surf Rowers League Series consists of 26 events around Australia from November 2012 to February 2013 which are held on some of the country’s premier beaches.
The Australian Surf Rowers League was born in NSW in 1992 as the International League of Australian Surfboat Rowers Inc. and currently has over 3000 members from over 260 clubs which make up over 450 crews.
