NO, people don't have more time, they are better informed and can make choices about how they allocate their time. Regarding trucks on the road, P.Drury may have a change of mind if confronted by, or attempts to pass a 67 tonne "B" double travelling at 100+ kilometres an hour. I regularly meet these monsters in the early morning hours travelling between Nowra and Albion Park. I travel when the traffic is very light. I shudder to think what 10-12 of these every day will do to the road we call a highway from Mogo to Albion Park.
