I WOULD like to congratulate Cr Amanda Findley for taking the opportunity to intervene and defend Leslie Lockwood, a member of the public, representing herself and other neighbours who had chosen to address a council development committee meeting last Tuesday.

After Mrs Lockwood had spoken, councillors were asked if they had any questions, and yes some did.
However, Andrew Guile and Bohdan Brumerskyj (committee chairman) treated Mrs Lockwood with a somewhat aggressive approach in my opinion.
One of the neighbours who Mrs Lockwood represented whispered to me during the meeting that she would have been in tears if that was her.
Councillor Findley then intervened, stating that it was unacceptable for a member of the public, who had given their time to become involved, to be treated in this way and how this sort of treatment discourages the public from participating in the political process.
J. Kerr,
Huskisson.
