Over 11,000 trucks per annum will be using the Basin Bypass (Island Point Road) into Gumden Lane to enter and exit the facility at St Georges Basin.
While Tomerong residents have reason for concern, this is the time St Georges Basin residents need to be active. Most problems will impact on St Georges Basin area so support must be given to Tomerong community with their objections.
Unity will ensure the best outcome for our area with this disastrous development proposal.
It will be a sad day if such a waste depot can be permitted to operate in an area close to the suburbs of St Georges Basin, the sensitive waterway of the lake and Tomerong.
The proposal needs to be investigated fully by all residents with issues such as
• Increase of vermin/cockroaches/rats etc
• B-double trucks using the highway and suburban roads
• Lead-based products – permitted
• Drained oil filters - permitted
• Drained motor oil containers – permitted
• Thermosetting polymers and fibre reinforcing resins (fully cured and set) - permitted
• Resins, glues, paints, coating and inks (fully cured and dried) – permitted
• Containers previously containing dangerous goods (residues removed) – permitted.
• Building cavity dust waste.... packaged securely (does this mean asbestos?)
The list goes on and concern is growing.
Be assured, the Tomerong quarry site is not suitable.
Residents need to get letters into council, something simple. This is the only way to be notified when the approving panel is meeting to talk to the people. Your community needs your support.

St Georges Basin.
