I AM not convinced that any of the proposed Bomaderry-North Nowra link road options will improve traffic flow. All any of the current proposals do is transfer traffic from Illaroo Road to the Princes Highway.

If council is attempting to improve traffic flow, it would be far more effective to spend the $14 million on a reconfiguration of the Bolong-Illaroo road intersection with the highway at the bridge. They could also get better value out of the two lanes on the bridge by fixing the feed of traffic into Bridge Street.
More importantly, I am opposed to any option that would see further damage done to the Bomaderry bushland. Planning authorities have failed to recognise the economic and social importance of natural bushland in urban areas.
While I would support a ring road that would link North Nowra with Bomaderry, this should not be done at the expense of further damage to the Bomaderry bushland.
It seems that council has spent a lot of money in relentless pursuit of one option – the Narang Road option. If I recall recent history correctly, the Bomaderry Regional Park was created against council’s wishes to protect the bushland. One would think that Shoalhaven City Council has still not come to terms with this decision.
