Playing against Ulladulla United at Lighthouse Oval, Ex-Servicemen slumped to 6/42 after dismissing the home side for 105.
Bob Fisher made 20 to top score for United, while Steve Grant added 18, Jason Abbott 18 and Clinton Handebo 13.
Mark Szczepanowski returned his best figures of 5/40 from 15 overs, and Graham Tamblyn had 2/16.
They were backed up by some excellent fielding, with several excellent catches being held and returns hitting the stumps to increase the pressure.
Ex-Servicemen have been best served by Matthew Brunton who is unbeaten on 19.
Grant captured 3/12 and Paul Tooth had 2/18, and they could easily have taken more wickets but for dropped chances.
Bowlers on top
The bowlers were on top at Bomaderry Oval where the home team made only 90 but has Berry-Shoalhaven Heads 5/28 in reply.
After winning the toss, Bomaderry had 29 on the board through Trevor Wright (15) and Matt Lees (11) before Peter Richardson grabbed a one-handed catch in slips to make the breakthrough.
No other batsman made double figures until Brian Henry came in at number 10 and cracked two sixes and a four in 23 not out.
Richardson and Luke Bramley took three wickets apiece, while Allan Timbs and Matt Cerenich each had two victims.
Gavin Kelly made 14, but in the last session the Berry batsmen struggled against Anthony Young who took 3/5 from nine overs.
Central leads
Central Districts already has first innings points against Rugby Union at Sanctuary Point Oval, and has the chance to win outright.
After winning the toss, an undermanned Rugby was dismissed for 45 of which Howard Jones and Chad Fraser each made 15.
Glenn Brindle took 3/12 from seven overs, and Craig Whalan had 2/12.
Central was well served by A. Norton (40), and after Whalan added 21 and Paul McCowen 15, the declaration was made at 7/86.
Chad Fraser took 2/8 from six overs, and Tony Armstrong 2/31.
Batting a second time, Rugby was 2/24 at stumps, both wickets falling to captain Alan Twiner.
Chase starts well
North Nowra-Cambewarra has started its chase well, to be 1/64 in reply to Nowra’s 179 at Artie Smith No. 2 Oval.
Opener Tony McCann is on 33, and he has had solid support from Peter Talbot (18) and Mick Davey (12 not out).
In the Nowra innings, skipper Mark Campbell cracked five boundaries in 53.
Of the six others in double figures, Kim Buffett, Steve Hicks and Mark Bailey each made 18, and Brad Payne 15.
Kris Lancaster took the bowling honours with 5/47 from 16 overs, and Graham Lowbridge had 2/60.
