The side looked to have a chance during a 31-run sixth wicket partnership between Mark McCann (18) and Tynan Buckley (15).
Guy Nelmes and Ryan Churchill each picked up two wickets.
Central compiled 7/87 in its second innings, with Aaron Clarke hitting five boundaries in 28 not out and Nelmes made 20.
Luke Dunn captured 3/27, while Adam Sargent and Ben Jamieson each had two victims.
Ulladulla United with eight players just managed to avoid an outright loss at the hands of Bomaderry at Artie Smith No. 1 Oval.
Chasing the big total of 269, United was dismissed in the first innings for 95 of which Melissa Hendrie made 29 and William Whittle 14.
David Sawkins took 2/19 from five overs.
Following on, United was 6/95 when time ran out.
Opener Kyle Daniel top scored with 38 including seven boundaries, Hendrie added 16 and Katrina Gray 15.
Kyle Bailey took 3/23, and Troy Wallace took four catches.
Excellent chase
St Michael’s/Ex-Servicemen 15s produced an excellent batting effort to chase down Bomaderry’s 193 at Thurgate Oval.
David Clark hit six fours and one six in 45, sharing an opening stand of 73 with Matt Lewis who made 37.
The top scorer was Pat O’Donnell who had six fours and a six in 49 to assure his side of victory.
Two wickets apiece fell to Simon Wheeldon, Daniel Turner, Bevin Jones and Sam Fritz.
Rain caused 10 overs to be lost at Frogs Hollow, where Ulladulla United won on the run-rate against Central Districts.
United was only six runs short of Central’s 119 after Tristan Charles made 38 and Joel Turner 34.
Scott Folkard bowled well to take 3/18 from six overs.
Outright from last ball
Ulladulla United won its under 14 match outright from the last delivery against Central Districts at Milton Showground.
Starting the day at 5/64 in reply to 48, United reached a total of 108 with Chris Wilson 42 not out and Sam Douglas 11.
Oliver Geier brought Central back into the game with 3/9 from five overs.
Batting a second time, Central lost three wickets before a run had been scored and was dismissed for 54 of which Chris Bryant made 14 and Geier 10.
Wilson completed a good double with 3/3, while Adam Worldon and Brad Madson each had two wickets.
Berry-Shoalhaven Heads scored a 19-run victory over Bomaderry at Zealand Oval.
Chasing 118, Bomaderry was given a good start by openers Matt Sunderland (16) and Josef Adami (15), but James McGuckin (12) was the only other batsman in double figures.
John Lett took 3/13 from five overs, and David Theobald had 2/1.
When Berry batted again for 5/49, all wickets fell to Sam Burns who got the first hat-trick of the SDCA season.
Andrew Muratore scored 17, and Matthew Jeffrey was 13 not out.
An opening spell from Tristan Woods destroyed Nowra’s chances of challenging the North Nowra-Cambewarra total of 268 at the Bomaderry Sporting Complex.
He took three wickets in his opening over, and finished with 4/20 from four overs.
Chris Nation cracked three fours and two sixes in 33 before he fell to an excellent Woods catch.
Hamish Leslie made 27 and Shane Ball 20 in the Nowra total of 116.
Nick McDonald took 3/11, and Andrew McQueen 3/2.
North Nowra made 7/50 in its second innings, half the runs coming from McQueen before he fell to Ben Dowdell (3/4).
Central’s strong win
Central Districts scored a strong win over Ulladulla United in the under 13 fixture at Francis Ryan Reserve.
Resuming at 9/168 the home side added nine runs with Kurt Quinlan finishing with 74 including six sixes and five fours.
United’s innings was held together by Tyler Garnon who hit nine boundaries in 51 not out, but the side finished with 9/145.
Ben Collinson took 3/17 from nine overs.
St Michael’s/Ex-Servicemen had few problems with North Nowra-Cambewarra’s total of 106 at Nowra High School No. 2 Oval and declared at 5/153.
Opener Lindsay O’Donnell retired at 50 which included seven fours and two sixes, and this score was matched by Daniel Roth who hit six boundaries.
Most successful bowler was Ben Szota with 2/6.
Batting again, North Nowra lost 5/17 as Chris Weller took 2/1.
In the other game Bomaderry could manage only 105 in reply to Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ total of 161 at the Heads No. 1 Oval.
Phil Dumpleton carried his bat for 35 not out, while Sam Bagnall made top score of 36 with six boundaries.
Chris Junk took 2/12 from three overs.
Valiant effort fails
Bomaderry under 12s made a valiant effort to reach 5/204, but finished 52 runs short of Nowra’s first day total at the Bomaderry Primary School.
The chase was led by Tom Jennings (38), James Dean (37) and Regan Henry (39) who all retired at the top of the order.
Dean cracked four sixes and two fours, while his team-mates each hit four boundaries.
Peter Tillott added 14, while there were 73 sundries.
Sam Taunton was the most successful bowler with 2/20.
Resuming at 1/20, Berry-Shoalhaven Heads struggled with the bat and finished with 82 in reply to the St. Michael’s/Ex-Servicemen total of 113 at the Berry Sporting Complex.
Sam Watts (3/8) and Emma Dempsey (3/6) kept the pressure on, and Shea Puckeridge took 2/9.
Blues won the battle of the Ulladulla United sides at Lighthouse Oval when Golds were restricted to 8/161 in reply to 184.
Michael Charles was the star with 59 not out including seven boundaries, and best support came from Sandy Brinkman 22.
Of the five successful bowlers, Elliott Morton did best with 2/12.
Central Districts scored an exciting win over North Nowra-Cambewarra at Huskisson Oval.
The home side resumed at 3/10 in pursuit of 167, and took the lead with seven wickets down.
Adam Kempt hit seven boundaries in 35 retired, while David Barr (28) and Aaron Braid (30 not out) each hit four fours and a six.
Matt Pearce took 3/19 from 11 overs.
On the first day North Nowra opener Josh Wellington had scored an unbeaten 67.
After retiring, he returned to feature in a last wicket partnership of 49 with Chris Daymon (17).
Wellington hit 12 boundaries, and steered his team to a total of 167.
Matthew Pearce also hit out to include two big sixes in his 24.
A star with the ball in the early stages was Tom Garrett who took 3/3 from four overs, while team-mates Scott Timberlake and Aaron Braid each took two wickets.
Outright for Blues
Ulladulla United Blues took outright points against Culburra in the under 11 match at Greenwell Point Oval.
The visitors declared at their overnight score of 6/108 and then dismissed Culburra in its second knock for 22 to win by an innings and three runs.
Matthew Best took 2/1 and Reece Farrugia 2/3.
Central Districts never challenged North Nowra-Cambewarra’s total of 245 at South Nowra, and finished with 119.
Brad Nielsen stayed at the crease for 34 overs, and scored 30 not out with four boundaries.
Taryn Smith gave best support with 12, while Joey Davey and Alex Peters each picked up two wickets.
Berry-Shoalhaven Heads never seriously challenged the St Michael’s/Ex-Servicemen total of 186 at the Added Area, and finished with 114.
Roy Miller top-scored with 32, and Jake Stephens made 15.
Justin Weller was a star with the ball taking 5/15, while Daniel Lawrence took four catches in the slips.
Ulladulla United won on the run-rate against Nowra at Lake Conjola Oval.
The visitors compiled 5/118 from 40 overs, the best being Steven Midson 27, Skye Wurzer 20, and Claire Garrigan 14 not out.
The previous week Golds reached the excellent total of 220, but benefited by the large number of 91 sundries.
There were 59 no balls, 17 wides and 15 byes.
Major runs off the bat came from opener Matt King 38, Dean Wilson 33, and Rhyse Hadland 20.
Of the Nowra bowlers, Jessie Smith, Joshua Francis and Midson each took two wickets.
Close battles for 10s
There were some keenly contested battles in under 10s, where St Michael’s/Ex-Servicemen Blue won by seven runs over Berry-Shoalhaven Heads Black at Nowra High School No. 4 Oval.
In the winning total of 3/134, opener Nick Smith hit five boundaries in 28 retired, and Shaun Bradley added 14, while there were 73 sundries.
The Berry side finished with 4/127 with Callum Dawson making 22, Aaron McElhinney 18 and there were 67 extras.
Smith took 2/9 from his two overs.
Ulladulla United had a 14-run margin against Central Districts at Burrill Lake Oval.
In the home side’s total of 8/94, Peter King scored 20 and Joseph Lavalle 17.
Bowling honours were shared by the Maddinson brothers, Nic with 2/4 and Duncan 2/9.
Central replied with 80, the mainstays being Nic Maddinson who hit three fours and a six in 28, and James Norton 11.
Anthea Collins, Peter King and Harley Larson each took two wickets.
Nowra comfortably took the points against North Nowra-Cambewarra Maroon at Drexel Park.
In its winning total of 5/150, Alex Legge hit up 19, with Dean Ball and Brady Warren 18 apiece.
Sheldon Varcoe took 2/6.
Maroon’s total of 6/105 included Haydon Rowe’s 15 and John Muggleton’s 11.
Berry-Shoalhaven Heads White amassed 177 to win by 59 runs over Culburra at Jerry Bailey Oval.
Opener Joe Bailey hit five fours and one six in 34, a score matched by Jack Symons who hit seven boundaries.
Kieran Gray also played soundly for 29, while Adam Quinlan picked up 2/16.
Culburra replied with 4/118, of which Quinlan made 29 retired with four fours and two sixes.
Connor Edenden took 2/3 from his two overs.
