THIRTY-FIVE of the State’s best speedway sedan drivers will converge on Nowra tomorrow, taking to the track for the second round of the 2008-09 Shannon Civil NSW Modified Sedan Series at the Fire Service Plus Nowra Speedway.
This is the second season of the series after a successful debut last year that took in only four rounds between Nowra and Goulburn Speedways.
This season has seen a 100 per cent increase in contracted drivers from the original 17 last season to a massive 34 contracted drivers for 2008-09.
The six round series, which was launched in Canberra two weeks ago is making a stop off in Nowra as part of this year’s competition.
Following tomorrow night’s racing the series will move on to Gunnedah early next year before a monster Easter double header at Gilgandra on Good Friday, then the following night at the awesome new Dubbo City Speedway.
The final round takes in Australia’s fastest speedway, Sydney’s Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on April 25 next year.
This year the series welcomes its first female competitor in the form of five times ACT/NSW ladies champion and current NSW Open Sedan Champion Sue Healey who just happens to be the wife of series hot favorite Ray.
Nowra locals also have the chance to meet and greet the drivers and check out some of their cars at a huge display on the grass at Joyce Mayne South Nowra tomorrow from 11am.
• A full preview of tomorrow’s night’s meeting, which will also include Headlining the slip-slidin’ rim-ridin’ NOS Wingless Sprintcars, Junior Sedans, the Speedway Karts and the super fast crowd pleasing Formula 500s who will contest the 2008-09 South Coast title, appears on page 47
