An army of volunteers assisted with the smooth running of all the events and while Saturday’s sunny weather had many reaching for a cold drink and sun screen, there didn’t appear to be too many complaints from the participants or the large number of spectators on hand to enjoy the event.
With the games also acting as selection trials for the major upcoming national and international competitions the action was as serious as any major sporting event with plenty of ice packs, shouts of encouragement and soothing words of comfort dealt out during the two days of competition.
