 Nowra refs stretched

Nowra refs stretched

08 Feb, 2010 08:49 AM
LAST week saw both the Nowra-Shoalhaven Touch’s Men’s and Mixed competitions affected by an unusual shortage of referees.

On Tuesday the comp was down two regular referees due to sickness and injury.

A big thank you to Tracey Coe for filling in at short notice.

A displeasing aspect in one game was the unsportsmanlike behaviour towards a novice referee.

The two teams involved should know that they are on notice and that this will not be tolerated.

Any repeat incidences of this kind will bring repercussions by the association.

In the Wednesday Mixed Competition, a number of duty referees did not turn up in the first timeslot which caused a late start trying to cover all games.

This was not helped by the late forfeit of one team, which then caused duty referees from both the teams involved not to show.

Teams who have already been advised of fines must have these fines payed to the association prior to playing this week.

All teams must ensure that their duty referee obligations are met.

It would be a shame to have games not fully covered with referees now that we are closing in on the finals with only a couple of weeks of round games left.

2010 Winter Mixed Competition

Start organising your team now as information packs and registration forms are available.

You can pick up your pack from the canteen at touch on Tuesday or Wednesday nights, from the ACS Core Store (surf shop next to Nowra City Motorcycles, corner of Stocklands car park), or download it from the website www.nowratouch.com.au.

Competit ion is on Monday nights at Lyrebird Sports Fields starting April 12.

Team registrations are Monday, March 29 at 6pm at the Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Junction Street, Nowra.

Return of association perpetual trophies - Outstanding summer perpetual trophies from the 2008/2009 season should be returned to the association.

If you have a trophy at home or with your sponsor from last year, please ensure it is delivered to the grounds ASAP and handed in at the canteen.

Publicity Officer Required for Association - Nowra Touch Association does not currently have a publicity officer, the role has been looked after by the secretary, but due to work and study commitments can no longer fulfill this role.

Support is given to the publicity officer from the committee, so it is not a role that you are left to do on your own.

If any player is interested in undertaking this role, please contact the secretary, Razz Morgan, either at the touch canteen or Nowra Touch Hotline 44488810 for further information.
