Well for most people anyway.
Areas which have been holding kingfish have somewhat been resembling the back of a major shopping centre in the past couple of days with some nice kings been taken on jigs.
Most fish have been around the 70-80cm mark but among these there have been a fair few better fish moving about.
Out wide the hunt for the elusive bluefin tuna is still going on with boats heading out any day the weather allows it.
For most the trip has been more of a bluewater cruise but for others, the fish of a lifetime has been found and off the coast there have been a few such fish.
In the past week there has been a 99kg and one over the 100kg mark taken, along with a few yellowfin up to and around 40kg.
The fish have been between 1000 and 5000 fathoms, yep that's right 5000 fathoms.
Here's hoping the fish that are out at that extreme range move in a touch in the next couple of weeks so we can all get among them.
Back to more of a depth of water most can relate to the old 40-50 metre mark there have been some nice reds taken.
Fish up to 4kg have been landed and pillies have been working the best.
There are still some leatherjackets around but out there are not enough to worry you.
As for last weekend's bream comp, well we couldn't have asked for better weather.
And the fish as always down there in the Basin, held true and made the Sussex comp nail-biting to the end.
Most boats encountered between 10 and 20 bream and a huge amount of by catch which included reds, tarwine, whiting and flathead.
On both days most boats came in with their five bream and it was always going to be down to grams as most fish were schooling and of around the same size.
But as always in these events someone turns the bigger ones and local Brad Braddick found those fish with one of his bream taking out the $500 big bream prize with an awesome 1.5kg fish and an overall bag of 8.305kg which was a great effort.
The bream specialist Simon Pender and team-mate Brad Balding came a close second with 7.785kg, which shows how close the competition was.
