Sussex dominates Berry

UNBEATEN leader Sussex Inlet dominated Berry-Shoalhaven Heads in the match of the Shoalhaven District Cricket Association fourth grade competition round that started on Saturday.

After winning the toss at Zealand No. 2 Oval, the visitors were in trouble early at 3/39 of which opener Kurt Regan had scored 26 including three fours and one six.

Nathan Dobeson continued his good form with top score of 53 that included four sixes and one four.

Jake Westley cracked two sixes in 24 and the side was all out for 176 in the 40th over.

Hal Johnston did the early damage, taking 3/30 from six overs, while Blygh Herron finished off with 3/27 off 8.1 overs.

Nine wickets fell to catches, of which Daniel Troy took three.

Berry was then dismissed for 64 before stumps, the best being Jack Gibbs (12) and Dale Lovatt (10).

Kurt Regan captured 3/3 from seven overs, and Shane Bate had 3/7 off six.

Higgins hammers Blues

A BIG hitting century from captain Shawn Higgins enabled Ex-Servicemen to take control of the match against Ulladulla United Blues at Milton Showground.

Sent in to bat, Blues were all out for 44 in the 28th over, with opener Matt Nancarrow (30) being seventh out at 37.

Vimalkumar Patel took 3/9 off eight overs, Higgins had 3/14 and Shannon Sansour 2/2.

Ex-Servicemen lost three wickets in taking the lead, but then the fireworks started as Patel (42) and Harley Higgins (27) added 46 from five overs.

The total was 5/108 when Shawn Higgins came to the crease and he hit an unbeaten 169 in a dominant performance.

He added 184 with Sansour (39) who was out to the 10th bowler to be introduced, and the declaration was made at 7/327.

Julius Machado (2/54) accounted for both openers.

Golds in strong position

SECOND-placed Ulladulla United Golds are in control of their clash with Bay and Basin at Huskisson Oval.

Sent in to bat, Golds secured maximum batting points and were eventually dismissed for 272 in the 63rd over.

Opener David Toghill led the charge with 76 including 11 fours and one six.

He added 49 for the second wicket with Shane Isherwood who dominated with three fours and one six in 34.

Toghill’s best stand was 67 for the fourth wicket with Caleb Murray (29 with three boundaries).

David Clarke made a quickfire 54, most of which came from six sixes and three fours.

Brayden Stanford-Lees hit three fours and a six in 22, and Darren Barca’s 12 came in boundaries.

Wayne Anstess took the bowling honours with 3/17, and Michael Blanch had 2/63.

Facing 11 overs before stumps, Bay lost 3/37.

Toghill (3/6) did all the damage, before David Woodall cracked five fours and a six in his 27 not out.
