NORTH Nowra-Cambewarra will be chasing an upset victory when round 12 continues in
the South Coast Register Shoalhaven District Cricket Association first grade competition tomorrow.
In the only match to get under way last week at the Bernie Regan Sporting Complex, Berry-Shoalhaven Heads was on top for the first half of the day’s play.
After an opening partnership of 75, the Cambewarriors fought back to take all 10 wickets for the addition of a further 73 runs.
Berry’s openers displayed patience to build a total, but those who followed were unable to build on the foundation.
The home team had consecutive victories prior to the
bye, and did have a score of
149 against this attack when they last met.
However it will take a big effort to topple Berry which is defending top place and needs success to take it well clear of Ex-Servicemen who have the bye.
Captain Nick McDonald has been Norths’ leading rungetter, and he will be the key batsmen.
Missing on day two is Lachlan Lamont who found his best form recently, putting pressure on Graham Davidson who top-scored in the last clash with
this opponent.
Lawrence Peters will contribute, while runs will also be needed from Dean Tyson and Hugh Gillen.
The Berry attack is led by Brad Dudgeon and Luke Bramley who will look for early wickets to gain the initiative.
Glenn Brandon is likely to take his place after enjoying an extra week to recover from injury, while Simon Bartlett and Bill Moffatt will also feature.
What remains
North Nowra-Cambewarra plays Bomaderry in round
13; and Ulladulla United in round 14.
Berry-Shoalhaven Heads has the bye in round 13; and plays Bomaderry in round 14.
Must-win game for Nowra
THIRD-placed Nowra has a must-win game against Ulladulla United at Lighthouse Oval, if it is to have any chance of snatching a top two position.
There are changes to the visitors’ line-up from last round, but there is still plenty of firepower.
Matthew Junk, Sam Watts, Ben Lahene and Kurt Quinlan have shown good form recently, and they will be key batsmen in the chase for a winning total.
Alex Legge leads the attack with Daniel Bryant, while Liam O’Brien, Rohan Hutchison and spinner Junk will also take a turn.
Terry Dorrell is the form batsman in the United squad, but he will need strong support here.
That may come from skipper Robert Cooke, Aaron Basile and Jason Linke.
The attack is led by Scott King, Dorrell and Sam Lee will take a turn, while Chris Barford and Jon Kingston have been named for the clash.

Points vital for Bomaderry
WITH its hold on fourth place under threat, Bomaderry will look to make every post a winner when it takes on Bay and Basin at Sanctuary Point Oval.
Shane Wallace returns to lead the visitors, and he is also a key batsman.
Jason Bell, Paul Sawkins and James Dean have also shown good form, while Michael Coulter and James Dean will contribute.
Despite his mishap in the field during the Twenty20 semi-final, Stuart Jeffrey is expected to lead the attack.
He is well backed up by Ben Lynch, while Coulter and Bell are among others who will keep the pressure on.
After a disappointing season, Bay at home will certainly push the visitors.
Skipper Jonathan Hill will be a key batsman, with Harley Bell and Aaron Wester.
