SIT back, buckle up and get ready for some spectacular action as the inaugural Shoalhaven Cricket Twenty20 Competition gets under way on Sunday.
The craze that is sweeping the cricketing world is set to make its Shoalhaven competition debut.
The area has previously hosted a Twenty20 Australia Day clash in 2007 and the Shoalhaven reps starred in the Wollongong Twenty20 competition last year being runners-up.
With the popularity of the game, local officials have initiated their own local competition, with Sportspower Nowra coming on board as official backer.
Eight local teams include the seven in first grade and a team called the Cavaliers, which will be led by former NSW Country captain and well-known identity Heath Muller.
The competition gets underway with matches at the Nowra Showground and Hayden Drexel Oval with each team playing a number of games in the opening weekend of competition.
Matches start at both grounds at 10am and 12.30pm with the last at 3pm.
There will be another round of matches next week before the semi-finals and finals on December 7.
