Ex-Servicemen 5/250 d Ulladulla United 118
Daniel Gleeson won the toss and he and Simon Blizzard were soon into stride, taking the total to 64 in the 11th over.
Blizzard had struck six boundaries in 36 when in attempting to run a third was caught short by David Banks’ direct hit.
Chris Bramley had scored only two when he was trapped lbw by Jon Kingston.
In his next over Kingston had Gleeson caught by Joel Tibbetts, the skipper’s 31 having included two fours and one six.
This brought George Dickie in to join Trevor Thomason, and they added 133 for the fifth wicket.
Thomason was superb, hitting five fours and three sixes in 76, before he was caught by Joseph Lavalle from the bowling of Robert Cooke.
Dickie went on to 59 not out with three boundaries, and with Chris Weller (15 including a four and a six), took the tally to 5/250 at the conclusion of the 45th over.
Kingston was the most successful bowler with 2/44 from nine overs.
With a long chase, Rodney Craig had the United batsmen on the back foot with wickets in each of his first two overs.
Terry Dorrell (1) was brilliantly caught by Gleeson at second slip, and the speedster then bowled Lavalle whose only scoring shot had been a boundary.
Scott King failed to get off the mark, Gleeson taking another good catch at second slip, this time off Thomason.
Captain Aaron Basile also failed to score, lifting Craig to square leg and keeper Blizzard made ground to take the catch. It was then 4/16 in the eighth over, and Tibbetts joined opener Cooke to mount a rescue.
They took the total to 38 before Cooke (21 with two boundaries) was caught by Bramley at second slip off Lain Beckett.
The best stand of the innings was 35 for the sixth wicket between Tibbetts and Douglas Chisholm.
Chisholm had made 10 when he was caught by Andrew Johnson off Dean Jones.
In the next over Jason Brown (0) was trapped lbw by Graham Phillis.
Tibbetts had fought hard for 26 when he was run out by Johnson.
Kingston played his shots, hitting four fours and one six in 32 before he was caught by Phillis off Bramley.
Damien Clark was out caught and bowled in the same over and the innings ended at 118.
This gave Bramley 2/9 but Craig was the star with the ball, taking 3/13 from five overs.
