BERRY-Shoalhaven Heads and Nowra feature in a crucial clash in the South Coast Register Shoalhaven District Cricket Association first grade competition this Saturday.

After last week’s defeat to North Nowra-Cambewarra, the home team will welcome the return to the Berry Sporting Complex and the opportunity to get back to form.

Batting down the list, Mark Lemesurier was the top scorer last week.

However runs will also be needed from David Crapp, Aaron Basile and Chris Bramley.

Skipper Brad Carey is the key bowler, and his nine overs are crucial.

Luke Bramley and Scott Groves had success with the new ball, while Crapp will also be in the attack.

Nowra’s top order struggled against Bomaderry, and it will look for improvement from Sam Watts and Kurt Quinlan in the top order.

The inclusion of Mark Bailey provides solidity in the middle, while skipper Nathan Bowden will look to contribute.

As well as making top score, Adam Quinlan bowled with penetration, and he will feature in the attack with Bowden, Alex Legge and John King.

Leader’s huge margin

PREMIERS Bomaderry have a 30-point lead on the rest of the field after only four rounds, and will look to retain that against Ex-Servicemen at Bomaderry Oval.

The home side was made to earn its runs against Nowra, when Michael Coulter and Chris McCarron led the way.

However Jason Bell, Michael Lees and skipper Jed Sawkins will look for runs in the early overs here.

Stuart Jeffrey is in superb form with the ball, and he leads the attack with McCarron, while Coulter and Jordan Matthews are also in form.

Returning after having the bye, Ex-Servicemen will be determined to continue their improved form.

Skipper Daniel Gleeson will lead by example with the bat, with George Dickie who is the leading rungetter to date.

Warren Ganderton is also hitting the ball well, while Simon Blizzard will look to regain his devastating form of last summer.

Early wickets will be needed from Justin Ganderton and Rodney Craig.

Shane Phillis and Matt Ganderton will also feature, with spinner Alex Butler.

Norths to consolidate

AFTER last week’s meritorious victory, North Nowra-Cambewarra will look to consolidate in the top four by beating Bay and Basin at the Bernie Regan Sporting Complex.

Most of the home team’s runs last week came from the bats of Nick McDonald and Graham Davidson who showed top form.

They will be backed up here by Matt Fairweather, Matt Hickmott and Alexander Peters.

Skipper Adam Jackson and Dean Tyson bowled superbly on this track last week, and they will again be key members of the attack.

They are well backed up by Gareth Hopwood, Brady Warren and spinner Hugh Gillen.

Bay and Basin can be heartened by last week’s efforts when it went down in the final over.

Captain Jonathan Hill scored half the runs, and he had best support from Liam O’Brien and Daniel Smith.

They will be key players again, with Grant Morris and Eugene O’Brien.

Danny Eccles was most effective with the ball against United, and he will feature here with Hill and the O’Brien brothers.

* The lower grade preview will appear in the Behind The Stumps section of Friday’s South Coast Register.
