Launched yesterday, the website provides profiles and school performance data on almost 10,000 Australia schools but a number of local principals claimed the site gave an inadequate assessment of a school’s performance.
Statistical and contextual information and school results from the NAPLAN test can be compared on a national basis or to statistically similar schools across Australia.
Each school has a profile page displaying a range of information including attendance rates, socioeconomic status of the student body and capacity of students and staff.
Professor Barry McGaw from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority said the website provided an important opportunity for everyone to learn more about Australian schools.
“By providing extensive information on Australian schools, the My School website introduces a new level of transparency and accountability to the Australian school system,” he said.
