Director of the Australasian Occupational Science Centre PHD Alison Wicks and visiting Swedish University scholar Ingeborg Nilsson are seeking up to 30 volunteers to participate in a five-day trial this week.
Participants will complete a diary for five days as part of the Shoalhaven Seniors Time Use study.
“The diaries will help identify what healthy seniors do to occupy their time, with whom they do things, where and why they do things,” Dr Wicks said.
Dr Nilsson is in Australia to research a scientific paper focused on senior citizens’ health promotion and occupation.
The local study will be useful in developing larger studies to explore healthy seniors’ everyday life and ultimately compare the Australian sample with a matched Swedish sample.
“We’re hoping to complete the five day diaries before Dr Nilsson returns to Sweden early in the new year.
Anyone who wants to take part or wants to know more about the study should phone Alison Wicks on 4448 0841.
“If I am not in the office when people phone, we ask that they leave their name and phone number and we will call back,” she said.
