Motorcycling NSW announced on Tuesday that it plans to build a $15 million facility that will cater for competitive motorcycling disciplines while also having the ability to host go-kart competitions, speedway racing, all levels of car racing as well as various off-road activities.
“Motorcycling NSW’s proposal to develop a national standard motorsports facility in Yerriyong will provide the area with a huge economic boost and add valuable sustainable visitor dollars into the local economy,” Cr Green said.
The facility is proposed to be located adjacent to the existing motorcycling complex on Braidwood Road at Yerriyong.
Cr Green said it could have flow-on effects for the entire Shoalhaven.
“This facility will also create a subsidiary motor sports industry with the ability to provide locals with a host of new opportunities in not only technical automotive employment but also in hospitality, marketing and promotion of the area,” he said.
The proposal has also received strong support from Kiama MP Gareth Ward and federal Gilmore MP Joanna Gash.
