A TEENAGER is facing serious charges following an alleged high-speed chase through Nowra and Bomaderry yesterday morning.
At about 1.10am police from the dog unit saw a grey Nissan Skyline containing two youths travelling north on the Princes Highway in Nowra.
Police attempted to stop the car, but the driver allegedly sped off.
The ensuing chase allegedly reached speeds of between 110 and 130km/h in a 70 zone, with the Nissan and pursuing police cars heading along the Princes Highway and Bolong Road.
Near the Manildra factory the 16-year-old driver of the Nissan lost control of the vehicle, and it crashed into a rock wall before rolling.
Steam and smoke was pouring from the vehicle and police feared it would explode, but police went to the vehicle to rescue the 16-year-old driver and his 17-year-old passenger.
The passenger suffered minor head injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Shoalhaven Hospital.
The teenager from Lake Illawarra was allowed to leave after being treated.
The driver from Lake Illawarra was not injured, but has been charged with a range of offences including Skye’s Law – imposing hefty penalties on drivers who lead police on high-speed chases.
He will face Nowra Children’s Court in coming weeks.
