Parolee back behind bars after robbery

06 Nov, 2009 10:06 AM
A MAN caught robbing a house while on parole will spend another nine months behind bars.

In Nowra Local Court this week, Alexander Nowlan, 18, of East Street, Bega, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, intimidating police and assaulting an officer.

At 9pm on October 3, Nowlan was accompanied by two other men when he smashed a kitchen window of a home in North Street, Ulladulla.

Unable to get in, the men scaled a wall to reach the first floor verandah.

Forcing the door, the men then stole a TV and bottles of alcohol.

Neighbours called the police who arrived while the robbery was in progress.

The other two men escaped, but the police pursued Nowlan and caught him as he ran into bushland.

He tried to punch an officer but was subdued with spray.

At Ulladulla Police Station Nowlan refused to answer questions but threatened to kill police when he got out of jail.

Police recovered the TV and most of the alcohol and estimated the damage to the property was $2000.
