RETAIL giant Myer has no firm plans to expand into the Shoalhaven.
The company has 65 retail stores throughout Australia, and has announced plans to increase that number to 80 by 2014.
The locations of 12 of the additional 15 stores have already been decided, according to a Myer spokesperson, with the Shoalhaven not on the list.
However Myer has plans to establish a store in Shellharbour in coming years, according to the spokesperson.
He was unable to say when the final three additional sites would be decided.
The Shoalhaven’s exclusion from the list of new sites could be a blow to plans for a new development covering much of the car park behind the Woolworths store in Kinghorne Street, Nowra.
Myer had been linked to the proposed multi-storey development, stretching from Egan’s Lane to Berry Street.
The plan drawn up for the Nowra Holdings group also included two plazas, and a two-storey arcade leading to Berry Street.
While Myer had been linked to the new development, Shoalhaven Mayor Paul Green recently said he was keen to get any of the major retail players interested in the potential offered by a new shopping and retail complex in the heart of the central business district.
