THE Shoalhaven Business Chamber has appointed Gaynor Peters as its first business development manager.
The position, combined with Ms Peters’ influence and popularity, signals a new direction for the chamber.
The organisation’s membership had reached a level that warranted a person dedicated to working through issues faced by local business owners, as well as continuing to grow the membership.
“I am a person for our members, who are business owners in Shoalhaven, to talk with and vent their frustrations if they need to.
“I am also here to promote the area, explore new ideas and unite businesses for the betterment of everyone who is in business in the Shoalhaven,” she said.
“I know what a valuable resource the chamber is; it’s not just a bunch of people having meetings.
“I think a lot of people might not understand how it all works and what we can do for them.”
Ms Peters is a familiar face in local business and has a good understanding of the issues local business people face.
She has owned or been involved in a number of local businesses including the Red Rose Cafe, Fireball Records, an optometry business and real estate.
“I felt I could make a difference and that is really important to me.
“I am really passionate about the Shoalhaven. We live in a wonderful place and so much of it is untapped,” she said.
Ms Peters is also a member of the CBD Promotions Committee, a group of volunteers responsible for events and promotions.
Under that banner she plays a role in CBD Magazine, where she is involved in advertising and working behind the scenes for each edition.
