Dorothy comes to town

27/10/2008 9:14:00 AM
SCREAMING fans packed out the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre on Friday when a famous green and yellow rock star came to town.

Dorothy the Dinosaur and her friends wowed 1500 local kids, parents, grandparents and preschool teachers at her first concert in the Shoalhaven.

Crazed fans high on sugar ran around the concert hall screaming in delight as Dorothy took to the stage.

Her most popular song by far was the Dorothy Stomp, which got the whole hall stamping their feet in unison and waving their arms in the air.

Like any good concert there were even a few stage invasions as delighted kids got into the dancing mood and made a break through security to join their idol on stage.

Dinosaur tails were the most popular attire for the day, closely followed by pink Dorothy shirts and Wags the Dog ears.

Dorothy’s tour manager Luke Field said she had thoroughly enjoyed her Shoalhaven concert and couldn’t wait to visit her loyal South Coast fans again soon.

Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre marketing manager Ashley Priest said he was thrilled at the concert’s success.

“After the sell-out crowds today we’re hoping the Wiggles will come down next year,” Mr Priest said.

“Events like this are a wonderful opportunity for local kids … and they save parents money on petrol because it’s not far from home.”
