An oxygen concentrator helps Mrs West survive as she battles lung cancer, and Mr West was worried about the impact the power outage would have.
After investigating the prospects of using bottled oxygen, Mr West contacted Integral Energy to see if the power would be out for all the five hours forecast, or whether there would be times when it would be able to be used.
However he was surprised and delighted when Integral staff offered to supply a generator.
That offer was honoured on Wednesday morning when Integral personnel turned up and connected the generator to the oxygen concentrator, and started it running, even returning a couple of hours later to top up the fuel and ensure there was no interruption to the life-sustaining equipment.
“I was just amazed at the service we got,” Mr West said.
“Their attitude was great, nothing was too much trouble for them.”
Once the power was restored the staff returned and packed up the generator with no mess and no fuss.
“We were so grateful for their effort and the way they went about their work,” Mr West said.
