Car runs into pub’s verandah

06 Feb, 2012 07:57 AM
A 76-year-old Worrigee man was injured on Saturday night when he drove his car into the verandah of the Archer Resort.

The man was behind the wheel of his station wagon in the Archer’s car park at 7pm on Saturday night when police said he put his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake.

The car collided with the verandah’s steps causing a laceration to the man’s left knee, bruising to his chest and small cuts to his lower body.

Police, ambulance and fire brigade personnel attended the scene and the man was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital.

A blood sample was taken from the man for testing.

Poor surfmaster another "expert" on driving matters! Go back to your tv and beer. Sound familiar?

Seconded B-man - we constantly rave about how young drivers are such dangers on the road due to their choices. We should be taking elderly drivers more seriously and removing them from the road when they become a danger...

I witnessed a similar even in the coles carpark a few years ago where an elderly bloke reversed into liquorland and knocked a poor lady on her ass - fortunately the driver handed in his license afterwards but perhaps we should be more proactive?

"perhaps we should be more proactive?" - everyone over 65 should have to do a medical to keep their license.
