 Big farewell for Jack Elliott

Big farewell for Jack Elliott

02 Nov, 2009 09:26 AM
HUNDREDS of mourners turned out to farewell Shoalhaven community stalwart Jack Elliott at the Nowra School of Arts on Friday.

Friends, family and associates from all over Australia and overseas came to celebrate the life of a man with a vibrant personality and a long history in the area.

Touching eulogies were given by several of Jack’s children and grandchildren who spoke about his life, presented poems and relived memories of Jack and also by close family friends.

The funeral service was appropriately held in the Nowra School of Arts, a building in which Jack spent much time throughout his life, attending various dances, presentations and events.

A short ceremony was held afterwards at Worrigee Lawn Cemetery where friends and family shared a few words and even a few jokes.

Fittingly, the wake was held at the Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s Club, where Jack had a long association.

The day was described as beautiful and the funeral was a family-oriented service.
