“I’m extremely excited,” said Ms Monteith.
“I’m really proud for the Berry Show Society. It’s great to have the opportunity to represent Berry at the Royal Easter Show.”
Ms Monteith was competing against 11 other girls in the RAS Showgirl Competition Zone 2 regional finals for one of two spots in the Sydney final.
To win, she had to perform well at an interview where she was asked questions about issues faced by agriculture at local, statewide and national levels.
Ms Monteith, who breeds and shows cows and studies agribusiness management, said she focused on the restrictions on growth faced by the local dairy industry in her answers.
With Saturday’s other finalist, Camden Showgirl April Browne, and zone finalists from around the state, Ms Monteith will go to the Sydney Royal Easter Show next month for six days.
There she will attend a series of luncheons and dinners, another interview and a speech night.
The announcement of the 50th Land Sydney Royal Showgirl will be made on April 14.
If Ms Monteith wins in Sydney she will have the honour of acting as an ambassador for rural NSW for the following 12 months.
The last time Berry won was in 2005 with Ashley Wright-Hands.
