Assault in Kmart

06 Feb, 2012 08:00 AM
A NOWRA man who turned aggressive when Kmart denied him a refund is being held in custody.

The 41-year-old went to the Stockland store at 7.15pm on Saturday and demanded a refund for a number of CDs and a CD player.

When he was told that he would not receive any money as he did not have a receipt and the goods appeared damaged, the man began to threaten staff and smashed the CD player against his head and the counter.

Police were called and found the man at the front of the shopping centre with a security guard.

The man was very aggressive towards police and when they attempted to arrest him he ran off across the car park and attempted to get into a vehicle that was driving by.

After a short struggle and a squirt of capsicum spray, the man was arrested.

The man was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with assault, intimidation, offensive language and resisting arrest.

He was refused bail and will appear at Nowra Local Court on today.

Perhaps that's why the refund was wanted? LOL

No doubt. Everyone was probably laughing at him when he showed off his "new" CD player.

Maybe he was disappointed with his selection from the pathetic range of CD's at Nowra Kmart.

Does "smashing" the CD player over his head nullify the warranty?
